I started my theoretical lessons in march 2014 at Aero-Beta Flightschool. The schedule was normally monday till friday from 8am till 3pm. Sometimes we also had to come on saturdays and public holidays. The lessons were divided in several sectors.
The first one was only PPL stuff and basic knowledge. After these first 3-4 weeks we had a break of 5-6 days and then we continued with the CPL stuff and deeper knowledge of the aerodynamics, navigation, air law, meteorology and technics,...
The lessons were all built up the same, like the teachers were presenting with power point on a blackboard and sometimes we needed to do a presentation. The whole theoretical learning took from march till mid-october. I started my practical flying lessons during the theoretical lessons. Normally the school recommends you to start flying, once you passed all exams at the LBA, but I wanted to start earlier, so I started in May 2014 with my first flying lesson. More of that lesson in my next post.

Finding the right Flight School
Many people thought of being a pilot when they were young.
If you keep this goal on your mental horizon the whole time, you really start thinking about on how to reach this.
First thing you will think about is applying at an airline for this job.
You will mainly apply online and like it was with myself at Lufthansa back in 2012 I got an invitation to go to Hamburg for the "Basic Selection".
I was really encouraged and motivated to go there and learned for the specific tests there. Finally in June 2012 I went to Hamburg and made the tests, just like hundreds of applicants each year.
A few days later I received a letter from Lufthansa, in which they told me, that my results were negative. I felt bad in the first moment of course.
Then I started thinking about other possibilities of becoming a pilot.
I was searching the internet for flight schools in my area.
Fortunately I am from Stuttgart, so we have FFH and Aerobeta flight school here close to the airport.
I went to several introduction evenings within both schools.
In the end I felt better with Aero Beta, because they have a lot of experience and some friends of mine also made their license there. I was also very happy with the training material provided during the theory phase. It helped me a lot with my studies.
I hope you liked my first post and stay tuned for more.
